Merry Christmas Icons!! [Dec. 6th, 2009|11:57 am]
[Tags|, , ]
[mood | content]

I made up some icons for a lot of people, most of whom donated some money to help get Luna to the vet a couple months ago.

Please do not use these if it is not your character!!

Icons for!
[info]akelavincent, [info]animecat, [info]greyfox312
[info]cmdr_kitsune, [info]hossblacksilver, Rew for [info]archaeoerika
[info]crssafox, [info]silverdark, [info]nomadfox
[info]brodycatsmouth, Meirin for [info]grimmhooke, and [info]calamitycougar.

I will have the full-size images (325px wide/high) uploaded to my ArtSpots page in a few minutes for you guys to crop, resize, or use as you wish. :)

If anyone else wants one of these, I'll take commissions for them! Since they're based on a template I'm only asking $3 each, or two for $5. Payable by PayPal only! Right now I am offering ten slots, more will open up once those have been completed. Each person gets a slot but you can order as many icons as you would like in one slot. So this is a great idea for an inexpensive little Christmas gift for your friends. :)

First ten people to request one will get a slot; after requesting a slot please make payment to: crssafox AT gmail DOT com.
Please include information about your character (or the characters you are commissioning) including species, gender, and if you have a specific request for hat/bow colors. Be mindful that these are going to be SIMPLE so complex details will not be added, and since everyone is wearing a hat I won't be drawing in any hair or anything. ;)

Slots:
1. [info]katmaxis (2) PAID
2. [info]carlfox (2) PAID
3. [info]hollyannvix (1)

I promised art... [May. 21st, 2009|09:57 pm]
[Tags|, , , , ]
[mood | excited]

A couple months ago I was approached by [info]jim_lane to do some illustrations for his book, "Lifetimes." That is what has been keeping me so very busy over the past weeks. I go to work, kill my eyes a little, come home & kill them some more! Hah! But it gave me a great challenge, it encouraged me to work hard on artwork and turn out a good product. Jim was great to work with, had exactly what he wanted in mind and was able to articulate it very well! I am only able to share three out of five, as two would be "spoilers" so if you want to see them, you'll have to read the book!

So without further adeu...

Illustrations! )

Jim is offering a panel at RCFM where these illustrations are going to be featured along with the illustrations from his other book, "Redeeming Factors," about the use of images and writing. For more information on his panel, visit this page.

In other news Joe & I are going to be selling jewelry at Ancient City Con this year in Jacksonville! We will be in the Artist's Alley with our stuff. I'd like to encourage local(ish) folks to check it out. It's supposed to be sci-fi/fantasy/gaming/etc. stuff so should be something for everyone. We haven't been yet (even though it *started* here in St. A we didn't hear about it until after the fact- as is common with events in St. Augustine) but are looking forward to it. It's the weekend before Megaplex, so if anyone is coming down for that & wants to hit ACC, let us know as we will have extra crash space at our house. :) (We are about 1/2 hour driving distance away.)

Also! We are looking into vending at this event:
http://www.flstatehogrally.com/
The Florida H.O.G. rally! That's Harley Owners Group - yes, the motorcycles! With such a big "bikers market" here in the area (especially being an hour north of Daytona) we want to try and get in on that stuff. I do think the maille jewelry will go over wonderfully for this event!! It is a bit steep for the vendor spaces, but we won't be traveling out of town or anything. Plus we will also have to carry liability insurance, have to look into that. Hope it's not TOO bad... but I think this would be a great step forward for the jewelry business. And bikers are pretty fun people-- they're much nicer than many other tourists I encountered when working downtown! ;P (Foreigners and bikers were the ones I always enjoyed meeting!) Anyway I am excited for that. :)

Buzzzzzzzzz [May. 2nd, 2009|11:37 pm]
[Tags|, , , ]
[mood | buzzed]

OK So the past several weeks have been quiet because I have been working super-hard on an illustration project for a friend who is publishing a book this month. I have been BUSY.

In order to focus on said project I have been going to Starbucks pretty much every night after work. So I work 8 hours, then go to SBux and work for 3 or 4 more hours, & several of those nights come home & work even moar. D:

It's gotten to the point where the people that work at SBux know me now. ;_; But it's cool, the people that work at this location are pretty nerdy & so good for casual conversation. They'll comment on stuff, or chat a little, while it's slow, but for the most part they have to keep busy too so it's not too distracting, just nice company. Plus the Double Chocolate Chip frappuccino's are pretty good. No coffee in them, just allll chocolate. <3

Well tonight Joe & I went after church (we go to Sat. night service @ 6pm) and I worked some more. (After I had been working on it at home; took the break for church & then went to "the studio" to work.) I wanted my usual Double Chocolate Chip but. The guy on register was usually the one that made my drink, and the one that made the drink is the one usually on the register. And somehow I think the "DCF" written on my cup - Double Chocolate Chip Frap - was interpreted as JCF - JAVA Chocolate Chip. Yes, there was coffee in my drink. And I drank it. All of it. Not only that, it was a LARGE. (Don't ask me what a "large" is in Starbucks sizes. They all sound BIG so. It was the biggest size they have.) I don't usually get a LARGE. D:

Joe also got a coffee drink, w/ three shots of espresso in. (We thank [info]akelavincent for that because apparently Joe says it was one he'd had at some point? Don't ask me...) And also, to add more coffee to the mix, one of the guys gave us a sample of a coffee he was brewing - I forget what kind he said it was but it was some neat blend, didn't taste burnt, didn't taste like "ewwww coffee" and it wasn't highly acidic, and it also didn't leave the "coffee aftertaste" in my mouth, so if all coffee could taste like that I would probably drink it more!)

We hung out at SBucks until about maybe 9:30ish, and by the time we left, we were both buzzing, hardcore. It was pretty bad. (It still is, if you can't tell yet from the length of this post.) :D

We went to Target, because I had to return my bottle of Hydroxycut. My doctor had recommended it to me to help balance out my metabolism - it was closest in ingredients to their weight loss supplement & it actually did help my body absorb water better, my skin felt so much better when I was taking it - but then yesterday the FDA recalled Hydroxycut due to a few people developing liver problems. Eep. Good thing I was only taking one a day anyway. So anyway we managed to buzz around the entire store in only a few minutes.

In other news Target did have these on clearance for only five bucks:

So we picked up two of them & now I have pawprints on my seats. <3 They fit kinda funky cause I have bulky bucket seats in my car but if they don't work out, it was worth the $5 just for the cute embroidered paw prints on faux fur. :P

Anyway I think I need to go drink some water & try to get to sleep. Um. Yeah.

Goodnight! ;P

A Day Off [Sep. 25th, 2008|08:45 am]
[Tags|, , ]
[mood | drained]

The stress has been building up, and I needed to take a personal day. Especially since my counterpart at work is taking her personal day tomorrow to study for exams... I could just feel the pressure mounting, and knew that I'd snap at some point.

Unfortunately, that point was last night.

It's been a rough ride, having something big and exciting yet unexpected dropped into your lap.

Since things have progressed to a point I guess I'll "release the news":

Joe and I have a contract on a house.

We weren't looking, and we certainly weren't planning on buying, especially not with the market going the way that it has been. But this house had been under contract, got all the way to the final walkthrough and the people decided they didn't want it. It had already been at a heavily discounted price as a short sale, but the bank wants it GONE because the owner has a foreclosure hearing at the end of October, so they cut the house down to $105k.

It's in GREAT condition, the perfect size, and has a beautiful BIG yard. All of our experience in house hunting earlier this year has taught us things to look for, and we couldn't have found a more perfect house. In fact, we DIDN'T find it-- our realtor e-mailed us out of the blue one day, thinking this one sounded like exactly what we were looking for. And it was. And it's in such a great condition, it recently appraised at $130k but the bank wants to take a big cut to just get rid of it since it is so close to foreclosure.

We have a contract, and now the bank needs to approve it, which will take a WEEK. This is UNHEARD of in short sales. Usually it takes a MONTH or so. But we've got our loan in the works, and we've got almost everything good to go. The only thing we're missing is our down payment assistance, and THAT was the breaking point for me.

We got qualified for it earlier this year, and so that *shouldn't* have changed. However, unanswered e-mails and unreturned phone calls for the past half-week have been frustrating. It's one of those things, where we know it SHOULD be OK but we have to rely on other people and that's the hard part.

I have faith that this is where we are supposed to be - it's just coming up with that down payment money and making sure everything goes smoothly that's been stressful.

So I'm taking a personal day to catch up on things here at home. The dishes have gone undone for the longest time, the ferret/cat room needs cleaning, and the whole house is just a shambles. We've both been so busy, me with work and trying to keep up with this house stuff out of nowhere, and Joe with working overtime on his job, and we're both just so *tired*. It's going to be a trying time, especially with a contract that has a potential closing date in early November, and worse yet, the possibility to close sooner so the bank can just be rid of it. I know God's got a plan for all of this but it's hard to hang in there when there is so much that hangs in the balance but relies on other people doing what they need to do.

Part of the reason I'm taking the day off is so I have the time to go downtown to the housing administration office to drop off documents in person, since they wouldn't answer their phones.

But hopefully I'll be able to catch up with other things too. Maybe even get to the art I owe. It's easy to make things - bracelets, or even fursuit parts! - when there's no creative streak necessary, just technical work. But the art needs to have the creative drive behind it, which I just have not had lately, unfortunately.

Cool Stuff [May. 18th, 2008|04:58 pm]
[Tags|, ]
[mood | busy]

Man we've been busy. I have been working hard hard hard on something for RCFM and only one person knows what it is... because it might or might not be done in time. I'll try though!!!

Yesterday Joe and I had to attend a first time homebuyer's class in order to complete a requirement for down payment assistance from the county. It was boring, a lot of stuff I already knew. This one lady from the finance company was so annoying, she kept saying "okay" after every sentence. Sometimes she'd change it up and say "alright" instead. But she didn't know what she was talking about either. I could've given the talk better than she did, after all the research I did. :P

After the class (which lasted All. Freaking. Day.) Joe and I went on some quick errands, and we walked around Staples, where we happened across a couple of HP LaserJets they had on clearance. We went home and researched the less expensive model, decided it would be worthwhile to pick it up. We popped it open to make sure it was all in tact and everything, turns out it had been a demo model and some of the toner in it had already been used, so, the manager gave us 10% off. We brought home this baby for $175, woot! And it works beautifully. The colors are so crisp! And now I can finally make prints for myself. :) (The reviews say it sucks because it smears photo-quality; we had that happen but it turns out that you just need to adjust for the correct paper type. People who don't know what they are doing amuse me.)

This afternoon Joe and I went to the Alligator Farm briefly after church. They opened up the new komodo dragon exhibit, and they had a bunch of new reptiles on display too. A couple different types of monitor lizards, lots of snakes and some geckos too. Their reptile house was beautiful!! Some dumb guy kept banging on the glass of the cobra display because the poor animal was nervous and kept spreading its hood. I loudly made it known to Joe that it sucks when people harass a nervous animal in a new environment. I think at least the guy's girlfriend got a clue... Then the stupid continued when some old guy was throwing marshmallows (!!) into the juvenile alligator swamp. Augh!! But before we left, we did get to see some courtship behavior from the large gators in the main pen! It was quite interesting really. The gators would stand up and take a deep breath of air, then bellow very loudly. Those that were doing it in the water would make the water vibrate above the spines on their back. It was fantastic! Apparently males and females alike will bellow, and almost every animal in the pen was doing it. In fact-- the excitement carried over to the pen that held the albino gator too, he started bellowing as well. It was kind of eerie in a way, but very neat to watch all the same. I love going there. :)

Came home, worked on LOTS of stuff, taking a quick break now but going to get back to work.

[mood | awake]

Man, I have been so busy lately. Work's been wearing me out too. I have been trying to get all manner of things ready for the convention coming up. I am nowhere near as prepared as I need to be!!!

Going to work on artwork I owe tonight. I have a little bit of homework from Elliott's too as a couple people came up wanting commissions at like 2:00 on Sunday afternoon... but we were leaving at 4... and I didn't want to not get it to them so I just got contact info.

I went grocery shopping earlier today. I must say, I really love the reusable shopping bags I got from Publix. They can fit soooo much more than a plastic bag and I can sling them over my shoulder to carry them all in at once. :P I bought $50 worth of groceries and it all fit into only two bags. Sweet!

I also scored big in the meat department, as I was looking for a pork tenderloin to try out a recipe I found online. They were all, like, $15-$20. Then I came across one marked $3.96. I looked it over, nothing wrong with it, the date was OK and everything; it SAID on the package that it was .64 lb but it was easily as big as the rest of the tenderloins in the display; I'm thinking someone forgot a 2 before the .64! Hah! I win at grocery shopping.

Anyway, to work with me! ^_^

LJ Sucks, and more [Apr. 22nd, 2008|12:25 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[mood | hopeful]

LJ just did that whole fakey "You Have A Virus!!" pop-up ad thing, only, it made my browser go crazy trying to download the virus scan software. Don't worry it's 100% FREE!! Except I didn't want to look at your ad or be re-directed without permission and unable to navigate away from said ad... I wanted to just post to LJ!! AUGH!!

That said.

I'm taking icon commissions again!!!

This time they're gonna be digital. I'm going to work on them on the weekends since work has been rough on me lately. I tried to do work last night but it made me dizzy to look at the computer screen any more so I gave up. :P But I can still do them on Saturdays/Sundays!!

Here's the deal:

Icons are $5 each, full-color digital. For every FOUR icons you buy, you get one free. So 5 icons are $20! 10 icons are $40! And so on.

If you spend $100 or more I will also throw in a free badge, either to be delivered by RCFM or mailed to you. :)

Choose from ANY facial expressions, all I ask is that your icons be kept to PG-13 or lower rating. :P

I have samples on my FurAffinity and JaxPad accounts (although FA is the only one that has samples of digital for now):

http://crssafox.jaxpad.com
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/crssafox

Here's the latest batch of icons I did:

Paypal only please; if you really want icons but want to pay some other way e-mail me and let's talk. :)
My paypal address is crssafox AT gmail.com !

Anything you pay for icons is going to our homebuying fund. This will help us cover inspection fees, mortgage fees, all that fun stuff that comes up. :P

Also!!! Joe posted on [info]rcfm taking custom orders for chain mail jewelry to be delivered at the con. If you want a custom piece made, contact him!! He updated our shop at Etsy: http://frozenforge.etsy.com because he's already made a sale there and the shop's only been up a couple of weeks! He works fast and makes good stuff. :)

If you guys could pass around a link to this post that would be most awesome. Like I said, we're trying to scare up enough to be comfortably padded as we work to buy a home... thanks everyone!! :)

The Weekend <3 [Apr. 20th, 2008|02:09 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[mood | content]

Yesterday was a Good Day. Slept in (for us, which is like 8:30) and then started off the day by washing some bedding, and giving the dog a bath (his itchy skin is LOADS better, he seems to be over it) and also cut Joe's hair. The later half of the day I spent dorking around a bit, and worked on some art. Finally downloaded the free version of ArtRage and hope to get the full version because it seems fun to play with. Thanks to those who've told me about and shown it!! :) I practiced some with Photoshop, I -love- drawing with the tablet on the laptop for some reason (I never used to care for it but now I seem to be OK with digital stuff)

Today we went to church, then went to Arby's for lunch and played our DS's some while there. (Ours is laid out so you can claim a corner all for yourself and it's nice and private. A good place to relax on Sundays...) Then we came home and had to run back out to pay the water bill, and Reo really wanted to come with so we went and took care of the bill (the place is only about a mile, if that, from our house) and then took the dog down to the beach. We had loads of fun! Poked in the water some, found some neat sea shells, and the dog was tearing all up and down the beach, digging holes and stuff. I took some cute photos out there. :)

The rest of the day is going to be spent relaxing and working on some more art stuff. I do have to tackle dishes at some point, and we need to write up the terms of our offer on the house we've been looking at, so we still have things to get done. Meh. :P

Gemstones and such [Mar. 4th, 2008|08:33 pm]
[Tags|]
[mood | curious]

Does anyone know where I can find natural gem stones for a decent price?

We have a store here in town that has a fair selection but they're retail price. Joe had brought a few pieces with to FWA for decoration on his display but there was a fair bit of interest in them, as in, people wanted to buy them.

So we're looking for places to find gem stones. We both prefer the natural look to them... Maybe polished up a little bit but not lookin' like it's ready to be put into a diamond necklace or anything. :P Just plain pieces like this.

I did find a rock & gem show that's coming to Jacksonville in April and I want to hit that up (my dad used to take me to those and I loved them!!) but beyond that I really haven't found a good source. eBay has a few pieces but most of what I found was "too natural", that is to say, it didn't show the brilliance of the gem, it was *completely* unfinished, like it'd just been picked up off the ground.

If anyone has a good resource for this stuff (especially cause we'd like to use them in crafts too!) let me know. =)

Best. Convention. Evar. [Feb. 18th, 2008|12:14 am]
[Tags|, , , , , , ]
[mood | tired]

Wow, so FWA 08 is over already. And sooooo much fun was had!! FWA just keeps getting better every time.

Some highlights:

- HUGE attendance!! Just over 1,040 people at the convention this year. And it was, what, 270 at the first one, five years ago? Sweet.
- Lots of fursuiters!! The official count after the fursuit parade was 165, but as usual there were some who didn't participate in the parade.
- Great roommates: we had a fun bunch of people. Had a great time staying up late Friday night (though I paid for it the next day) just chatting.
- New fursuit! I had Adie out and about Friday night, for the parade on Saturday, and for a short while this evening.
- Dealer's den was most excellent. As usual, Rama did a wonderful job of running the show, making sure the dealers were taken care of. Lunches arrived with perfect timing and were very tasty! Nothing but good things to say about the den this year.
- Sales were good! I didn't sell TOO much -- I paced myself because I knew I wanted to have a lot of fun at the con too. I only took on a few commissions from people because I didn't want to be stuck with homework. (My art is still becoming known anyway... so I didn't have OMG huge demand for it) Joe did really well with his chainmail, and we had a bunch of cute little charms he got to add onto bracelets or key rings and they did really well too.
- Being next to massage chair = biggest trap ever. :D I got a massage from Emily each day and it HELPED so very much. She has magic hands, she truly does. I think it would've been harder to survive the weekend if she hadn't have been here. And now Joe thinks the dollar-a-minute for a chair massage is QUITE worth it. ;)
- Tons of friends, both new and old. I got to see a LOT of people.

I would do a shout-out but there are WAY too many people that I am afraid I would leave someone out. :( All I ask is that if anyone got pics of Skittle (played by other people this weekend) or of Adie (lots of people were apparently guessing who she was made by but didn't know it was me?) that they send them my way. =)

Joe and I are going to breakfast with some friends in the morning and then maybe making the drive back to St. Augustine tomorrow. It's so hard to believe the con is already over. And we didn't even have any drama. :)

Sleep time!

A new day... [Feb. 13th, 2008|07:55 am]
[Tags|, , , ]
[mood | busy]

Went to bed early last night, around 9:30. Got up early this morning so I could come in to work early and get as much done as possible.

Last night the paws ended up being a bust, but, overnight I slept on it and was able to come up with a better idea that will work easier. Also, I did manage to add the "scruff" of the body suit that needed to be put on.

As it stands, work that needs to be finished for suit tonight:

- Sew "socks" on the arms (I was going to have them detached but changed my mind)
- Sew hand paws
- Sew up tail
- Attach "neck fluff" to front of fursuit head

No time to make feet, but Happy Feet will suffice. :) The suit's looking good, fits REAL well, so I'm content at least. :3

Art stuff needing to be finished:

- Finish up trades & commissions
- Finish up full-color pic I am going to be making prints/magnets of
- Make business cards for fursuit business
- Make new business cards for me, if I have the time
- Get prints of 3 new full-color pics, and print out magnets
- Laminate magnets
- Put together some more pawprint magnets

I am going to be saving a LOT of the art stuff to do when we get to the hotel room. Needless to say it looks like we will not be going to the zoo when we get there. ;P We will be bringing our scanner though and we will be able to scan stuff while we're there... plus if anyone wants to scan something & email it to themselves/the artist we may offer that service for a little fee. ;)

Sooo busy and so much to do at work today... better get to it!!

Hobby Lobby.... [Feb. 11th, 2008|11:25 am]
[Tags|]
[mood | random]

Joe and I bought out several categories of charms which were half off at Hobby Lobby last week, like the bone-shaped charm, to sell at FWA. Joe is going to add them to chain mail necklaces or put them on his cell phone/key ring thingies he's going to make. We got a bunch of cute ones. We also stopped in the Hobby Lobby near Gyl's place and got the rest of their bones and a couple of others too.

This week Hobby Lobby doesn't have their oh-so-wonderful 40% off coupon, but, they DO have 40% off WILTON products. That's cake-decorating stuff, but a lot of the stuff we got to work with Sculpey came from the cake-decorating aisle too. So if any of you guys who do Sculpey need something like a little rolling-pin, or texture plates, or even plastic sculpting tools, check out the cake decorating aisle at Hobby Lobby and bring that 40% off coupon because you just might find something you could use! :)

I need to stop there myself to get thread for my suit. I am sooooo excited about being so close to finishing it. AUGH!! Can I go home yet??? ;P

A Stopping Point... [Feb. 10th, 2008|06:26 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[mood | busy]

D'oh! Got to a stopping point with my suit because I don't have much thread left. :( It's okay, I wanted to get stronger thread anyhow. But I have all the fur cut out and pinned up. Tomorrow night will be sewing night. Tuesday night I'll work on the foot paws and the tail. I should have this baby finished up in time for the con. :)

So for the rest of the night I am going to work on arts. Guhhh I have so much art to finish too, and I have to go get prints made still too.

Still sad no one pre-ordered any badges though. :( Maybe I'll try again now that it's a week before the con. :P I do have a few trades to work on though, those are always fun. ^_^

Back to work!

ONE MORE WEEK?! [Feb. 6th, 2008|08:41 am]
[Tags|, , , ]
[mood | busy]

Augh!! FWA is coming up too fast. In one week and one day we will be leaving for Atlanta.

I'm NOT READY! XD

Last night Joe and I ran some errands to get things for the con. He got tags for his jewelry, and I got some removable labels for my prints to put in the binder; these labels peel off of the page protectors so it's not going to be a gunky mess. We also happened across a new keyboard Joe needed for his computer, and we found some stacking CD crates that ended up being nice and cheap and he's going to use for display of his wares. :) Then we went to Big Lots where Joe found some little battery-operated LED lights that are supposed to be the "under-cabinet" lights for his jewelry display.

We're trying to cram all his stuff and all my stuff and even some EXTRA stuff into one dealer's table so we're trying to work with vertical space if we can. We've got all his chain mail stuff, all my art stuff, and I've got my tails and also those fox and wolf plushes we're bringing... We're going to do a "preliminary setup" so we can get an idea for how much space we'll have and what we'll need to improvise.

As far as the fursuit goes, I don't have TOO much to finish... I finished basting together the pattern-suit, the muslin that will help me place the different colors of fur. Tonight, Joe will help me tack it down so it's fitted (the same way Skittle is) and he will draw the lines for the white and brown markings. Tonight I will also cut out the pattern. Tomorrow I will spend cutting out the fur, and then Friday will be spent pinning it together. Saturday and Sunday will be my sewing days where I bust out the sewing machine and put it all together. I still also have feet I have to make, but if I don't get to those I do have Happy Feet slippers I can wear. ;) It's all coming together pretty quick!

On the art front I have new business cards to design, I have prints to make, I have magnets to make, and I have one new piece of art to finish up. It's just about done, it just needs the background to be tinted a little more, and some clouds in the sky. :D I also need to finish up artwork I owe before the con.

So, this is REALLY crunch time!!

I stayed up late last night to work on stuff, and was frustrated because I didn't get to bed early and had to be up early for work... well, Joe suggested we leave the window open for some fresh air, and MAN did that do me some good. It was a NICE temperature last night, not cold at all, but the fresh air coming in through the window helped me to sleep so well. I didn't wake up once all night long! In fact I was surprised to hear the alarm go off, but when it woke me, I felt so refreshed. I'm so glad I got to sleep well.

Okay, so off I go for a day of being productive at work, then home I go to be productive there... so MUCH to do yet!

Are you all ready for the con yet?? :D

Busy Beez [Feb. 4th, 2008|09:15 am]

[mood | busy]

Joe and I were real busy yesterday, gettin stuff done. Last night we didn't watch the Superbowl, we actually had rented some movies from the McDonald's RedBox vending machine (I *love* that for background noise while I'm working on costume stuff!!) and we didn't remember the Superbowl until after it was over, whoops. :P

I watched Rush Hour 3 while working on cutting out the muslin pattern for my body suit (which I didn't have quite enough fabric for, need to get another two yards today at Hobby Lobby) and enjoyed it a lot more than Rush Hour 2. They managed to get another good story, while the second Rush Hour movie was mostly silly/stupid antics. :P Then after that was done I joined Joe downstairs and worked on artwork while he did chain mail stuff and we watched Hot Fuzz. That was an amusing movie, I could have done without the blood and gore and all but thankfully I didn't see too much of it because I was looking down at my paper to draw. XD

I had drank a Mountain Dew kind of later in the day so I was buzzing until "late" (around 11pm instead of 10pm hehehe) but I also didn't sleep too well. I woke up with a twitch in my eye this morning. ;_; But it's good to know that the Mountain Dew will buzz me into production, I'll definitely use those powers for evilgood while at the convention. ^_^ Man, it's coming up so fast. I feel like I have so much to do and yet I really don't. I have most of my art stuff ready to go, we got a new organizer for my prints, I have three new prints I'll be bringing with, and we've had all of the "con stuff" organized into a couple of drawers in my writing desk so it's going to be pretty easy to get it all together and put it into the crates.

One thing I will be bringing with me to the con is the better part of my stuffed animal collection. Truth be told, Joe and I are trying to de-clutter a bit and much of what I have is still in mint (or close-to-mint) condition and the plushes have just been sitting in the walk-in closet gathering dust and not really being enjoyed. I figure that, with the good condition they're in, someone else can enjoy them still. I also found a couple of tails that either hadn't sold, or that I made a while ago for myself and Joe and we never really wear any more. I also plan to sell my first set of fox ears, because again, I just haven't been using them. I figure someone else will. :)

Joe and I got a set of nesting crates from Dockside Imports which is closing here, and they're pretty nice, so we will be bringing those with to help maximize display area. They're nice because, while the largest is pretty large, they fit inside one another so they only take up the space of the largest one and no more. And there is still room inside the smallest to pack stuff. :)

So we are getting stoked for this convention!! We're feelin' prepared, and we're going to have a blast. :D

Another work day... [Feb. 1st, 2008|03:15 pm]

[mood | bouncy]

Another day I'm not wanting to be here! We have been so productive at work lately that we end up searching for stuff to do. I guess that's what I get for swapping out Diet Coke (which I'm not drinking any more) for Mountain Dew. D:

Have I ever mentioned that I don't like the presence of the "insert" key on my keyboard?? I hate hitting it and then going to type something but not realizing I've hit the insert key and am typing away what I already wrote! Whoops. And goodness knows I get happyfingers too easily....

I made cinnamon rolls again last night using that recipe I linked around Christmastime. Except there are more people actually here this time around so it's a good thing I made two pans of them! I have another two pans' worth sitting in the fridge waiting to be made for sunday school. We're not obligated to bring the snack but I love baking things and bringing them for people to enjoy. :)

While I was finishing up my preparing cinnamon rolls and cleaning up the mess in the kitchen I yakked on the phone with [info]lunaralioness who is going to be rooming with us at FWA this year. She seems like such a fun gal. ;) Goodness knows we have pleennnnty in common, all the way down for preference in computers (go Mac!) and a fondness for pet birds. :D I'm looking forward to the con, we've got SO MANY new people we are going to be meeting!

I also have SO MUCH to get done these next couple of weekends before the con. I am going to be working nonstop through the weekends. Adie's head is juuuuust about finished, I need to sew up the sides of the neck and I need to "airbrush" (with marker, erk) the fur. Beyond that the head is DONE, and I can start work on the body this weekend! Hopefully will have time to work on art too. I haven't touched a pencil in a while and have stuff that I owe to people. :>

Icons! Again! [Dec. 30th, 2007|01:08 pm]

[mood | artistic]

S'more icons. Getting down to the end here! ^_^

For [info]calicatmerlin:

Whew! That's a lot of icons! You can see why they took me so long to finish. ;_;

I have to do Kat's icons and then I'm done!

I'm taking a break from drawing this afternoon to start some work on my fursuit. If only I can find that stupid pattern! I know I *just* saw it the other day but now it's wandered off again. Grr! Ah well. Joe got me a new bin to keep my glue sticks and glue guns in so that is going to help clean up the other room a little bit better... I have some other organizing in there to do too. Oy.

I'ma gonna hop to it! :)

Zzzzzz. [Dec. 29th, 2007|11:55 pm]

I upgraded my account to "Plus" to create that poll... the ads are annoying. But I figure... when I still had my paid account before it only let me have 15 user pics anyway (it never did upgrade mine to 30!) and if they want to whore themselves out for money, let them; they can have sponsors' money instead of mine since users' money wasn't enough anyway. ;P

I am *almost done* with icons! Kat, yours still have to be sketched and all, but the other two peoples' that I was aiming to have done earlier this week, are almost finished. Well, actually, one of the two IS done, and that's the reason for this post!

Here's for [info]wulfsige!

And here's a preview of [info]calicatmerlin's icons, two of the fifteen...

As you can see, I'm mostly done, I just have to finish up the shading and give them background colors. Augh!! So close!!

And finally, a little bonus art. I *was* going to keep this a surprise until FWA but I don't think I can. XD Actually... I know I can't. Here's my Super Sekrit Fursuit concept art....:
Adie - Fursuit Concept

I decided to name her Adie! I got that name from the first two letters of Adorable, and the last two of Foxie, which is my web site. ;)
I'm not sure if I will ever make a CrssaFox costume; CrssaFox, to me, is not so much a real character as she is a web presence. I guess you could say she's "me" in 'net form... so much as she can be. So Adie's gonna be my gal for FWA coming up. I hope she turns out as cute as the concept art. I think I should do okay with it. :)

Today has been a super-busy day, starting with errands in the morning - going to JC Penny to get new bedding stuff (Joe's parents' Christmas gift to us) and then to Walgreens to get my prescription... then we went up to Jax to get an oil change and Joe's car needed looking at. There is something wrong with... oh, I can't even remember what, but it's basically something leaks coolant (very slowly, mind) onto the passenger side floor of his car, and it's going to cost over $600 to fix. (Half of that is labor, because they're going to have to take apart the dash....) Ouch. I hope Joe's parents will help with that... how much that will set us back. Sigh. At least it's not a pressing issue that needs fixed *right now*.

After we were done at Saturn, we popped over to [info]jooshie and [info]painteddog's house since it was right around the corner, and visited with them for a short while. Was good to see them again. :) Angyl made us the *cutest* little ornament of Reo for a Christmas gift. You all need to go check out her stuff, because she does an AMAZING job on her sculptures! ;)

Then we hit up St Johns Town Center where we went in JoAnn because I needed a new needle for my basting (tack) gun, and Hobby Lobby didn't carry the needles. (They carry the brand, but when I asked the girl in the fabric department if she had them, she blinked at me and went, "Huuuuh?") At least they were 50% off, and it was a set of two, so if the needle breaks again I have yet another replacement. The basting gun helps SO much with tacking up a suit pattern.

We got Arby's for dinner, then headed on home, and I came on upstairs to work more on art. I'm about to my limit now, so it's a good thing I'm nearly done with these! I have to say, I've enjoyed working on them because they're *great* practice for me, in drawing faces and expressions as well as practice inking and using my markers. I am seeing great improvements in my consistancy as far as characters go, so I am happy about that. :)

Mmm, bed time now. Getting up for church in the morning, then tomorrow is going to be spent finishing these icons, then cleaning the house and airing it out before it gets *cold* later this week. (Just in time for [info]nomadfox's visit! Nomie, you're bringing the cold weather with you, apparently!)

Good night! ^_^

Had all I can take today... [Dec. 26th, 2007|09:26 pm]

[mood | tired]

It's been a rough day. A lot of stuff has seemed to get me down... which isn't fair because there's really not anything I should be complaining about, I guess. Eh. Blame it on the full moon, and the fact that it's an unpleasant week to be female, and we'll leave it at that.

I'm really trying to get through all of my icons. Wulfsige's are inked, Cali's got ten sketched (one finished) and five more to sketch... Kat's I haven't even started on yet. I was so sure I could make that Christmas deadline too, but... all I can do is keep going at it. I am pleased with how Cali's are turning out though. He gave me all sorts of expressions I haven't done yet so I'm having to research facial expressions for them. I'm sure I look funny because I find myself making the faces as I'm trying to draw them. ;)

I have been wanting to put aside the art and work on fursuit stuff because I have a suit I want to complete before FWA. I put in an order for the one yard of fur I *didn't* have. I'm looking forward to this suit, it's going to be cute. You guys will like it. :) I have a LOT of work to be done on it and I just want to jump in but I am not letting myself until that art is done!!

One thing that is making me nervous is the beginning of the year coming up. With the new year comes W2s and with W2s come tax returns. Not that we care about OUR tax returns, but apparently "tax time" is BUSY SEASON for car-buying. So we are going to be SWAMPED with deals once people start getting their refunds. (I hope to have my W2s early to get ours out of the way as soon as possible...) Hopefully it won't pick up TOO much until February, because with just two of us on data entry we will be slammed, and we'll both be getting some overtime in. I hope to have my costume finished before then!!!

Well, I'm gonna run to bed. I will work more on the icons again tomorrow night. I wish it didn't take me so long to sketch these durn things! (I may ink some tonight just to get it out of the way...) I'm about done with icons for now. I want to work on FWA stuff!! XD
